Texas of the Concho Valley is based in the offices of the Concho Valley Council of Governments and is staffed by trained and certified Information Specialists. Each Information Specialist assesses the callers need in English or Spanish and has the ability to transfer into a Language Line for interpretation of over 90 other languages. The Information Specialists can also follow up with callers to ensure that they have been properly served or see if there is still a need for further assistance.
Texas is part of a national effort to help promote self-sufficiency by making information about services much easier to find. Across the state, 25 Area Information Centers have been established to collect and maintain a database of local resource information. Each center has the ability to connect callers to different across the state depending on the caller’s need. Every center continues to expand its database of government agencies, food pantries, career services, after-school programs, counseling services, and many other nonprofit resources in each of their regions.
